Trip Suggestion:
A caves and nature walk in the Judean Hills- Burgin Ruin:
In this trip we will learn how and why the Judean Hills got the nickname of the land of a thousand caves. We will walk in pristine natural Mediterranean vegetation and visit ancient ruins and numerous caves- from big bell shaped caves, through (uninhabited) burial caves, to hiding caves from the time of the Bar Kochba revolt, where we would have to crawl in order to get through them. In this easy trip, that takes about two hours, we would enjoy a combination of Archeology, Geology, History, and wildlife and vegetation in an unharmed biblical landscape.
This trip could be combined with longer trips in the Judean Hills.
Length: About two hours, easy walk.
Recommended season: All year round.
Equipment: Flashlight, comfortable walking shoes, wide hat, anti sun screen, mosquito repellent, sun glasses, a liter and a half of water a person, long trousers for the hiding caves.
